Become a Foster Parent

Foster parents provide a home and support for a teen mother as she pursues her education, builds her career, learns to be a parent, and prepares for self-sufficient independent living.

Who Should Apply?

Foster Parent applicants should be:

  • Excited to help a teen mother build a path to independence
  • Between ages 30 – 60
  • In good health
  • Able to support themselves
  • Able to provide a room for a young mother & her baby
  • Experienced raising children from infancy to the teen years.

How Does the Program Work?

Inwood House provides special training and works in partnership with foster parents to best meet the needs of the teen and her child.

Parents are provided a monthly stipend for each day that care is provided. Payment is designed to cover the costs of needs like food, transportation, personal care items, recreation and an allowance.

The teen mother is provided clothing allowance for herself and her baby.

Inwood House pays all medical and dental expenses for mother and child and provides support services, such as daycare, career support and funds to ensure the teen mother attends school or vocational training.
